I was fortunate to attend the google devfest (developer festival) where google folks discussed new technologies and they held a code lab too where participants showed their coding prowess.
One of the interesting part is google analytics and fusion tables… just because I’ve been using maps into my past projects in different programming language like Magic and CA Realizer Basic (i know CA Realizer basic is dead but just to let you know I spent sleepless nights coding in it! :P)
I’m also using google analytics in my current projects and in grasya.com, but i didnt know you can get proper certification with it.. hmm.. for more info, visit http://www.google.com/analytics/education.html
As for the fusion tables, you create and customized google maps based on a large aggregate of data.. programming code is similar to SQL. Although Ushahidi is much more easier to implement coz it only involves minimal coding to implement maps, well, it is still nice to learn new things. For more information on fusion tables, please visit http://www.google.com/fusiontables/public/tour/index.html
One fortunate thing that I notice is that there were women participants.. well, still under represented, maybe around 20% only based on my observation. And age group varies from college students (coz its held in Chiang Mai University) to professional geeks errr IT people.
